Who's Annabel?
I started making jewellery when I was a student of Metalwork and Jewellery at Sheffield Hallam University. After graduating with a BA in 2014, I spent a additional year as an apprentice, enhancing my skills at a silversmith factory. I was subsequently awarded a Commendation from the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council Award for Junior Silversmiths 2015. During this time, I continued to design and sell jewellery, taking great pleasure in crafting silver pieces that people could wear and enjoy.
After training with jobbing jewellers at a well-known Yorkshire jeweller, H.L.Brown & Sons I unfortunately had to leave Sheffield due to an abusive relationship.
However, I did not allow this to dampen my creative spirit. In my new home, Aberystwyth, which I have visited since being a child, I began my new life. I then spent 5 years with the reputable and established Welsh Gold Centre, Rhiannon, who specialize in Welsh Gold and welsh celtic mythology. After becoming lead goldsmith and workshop manager, the time finally came to go my own way.
After the experience of having a stall in a shared space and going on to having a small shop in the local Aberystwyth Market hall, I am now focusing on my next steps as an artist and goldsmith.
My main focus is now to reach people via my website and social media, with the focus on offering honest advice on jewellery and utilising personal family or sentimental gold and gemstones to be remade into something new and precious.
To become a master craftswoman in metalsmithing (often combining jewellery and traditional silversmithing), hopefully reflects my dedication to superior craftsmanship, innovative design, and, above all, to creating small treasures that bring delight to people every day and for generations to come.
I emphasise sustainability and ethically sourced materials without compromising on the quality of my metals and gemstones, and encourage the use of sentimental gold and gems to make your new piece of jewellery that bit closer to your heart.
I know jewellery shopping can be intimidating, which is why I provide a friendly, no-pressure atmosphere that makes the purchasing process a pleasure. Please feel free to drop me a message if you are struggling to decide what you want. No matter what special piece you’re looking for, you’ll be able to find it with me.
