Heirloom wedding jewellery
This bridal jewellery commission is one of my most cherished and memorable recent projects. The family entrusted me with a remarkable heirloom brooch, crafted in silver and 9ct gold and set with diamonds and a beautiful emerald.
What makes this piece particularly special is its history. An inscription on the reverse records the family members who contributed gemstones over several generations, with stones being collected between 1745 and 1896. The brooch was eventually commissioned by the head of the family for his wife, who was involved in the suffragette movement, adding another fascinating layer to its story.
For her wedding day, the bride wanted to honour this family treasure by incorporating it into her bridal jewellery. I designed and created a pair of matching earrings inspired by the brooch, while also adapting the original piece so it could be worn as a pendant. This allowed the heirloom to take centre stage on a new and significant occasion while preserving its rich heritage for future generations.
The project was a wonderful opportunity to combine craftsmanship with family history, creating jewellery that connected the bride to her ancestors on one of the most important days of her life.
Wedding day images and details of the completed pieces can be viewed on Instagram.
